Newtowngore NS pupils have been busy with their new vegetables and herb garden. They have planted lots of delicious vegetables and look forward to what the future holds!
It was wonderful to see so many pupils, past and present take part in a retirement concert for Mrs Pamela Whitford. Mrs Whitford had been a teacher in Newtowngore School for many years and we all wish her well in her retirement.
Newtowngore National School is looking great thanks to the parents and staff who worked hard gardening and painting. All the children have settled in well to their new classes and are all working very hard. Michael Bell from the Heritage Centre visited the school in September and the children had lots of fun exploring the grounds of the school and learning about local habitats, animals and plants. The school is also excited for the next few weeks as they will be partaking in the MS Readathon, Maths Week, FARE Workshop (Football Against Racism Europe) and celebrating the Harvest in their Harvest Assembly on Thursday, 23rd October at 9.30am. There will be a cup of tea and some homemade bread afterwards and everyone is very welcome to come along to the assembly, which will be taking place in the school
Following Sabrina Faulkener Richardson's maternity leave and subsequent move and Pamela Whitford's retirement after many years teaching at the school, all those connected to the school are no doubt delighted that the staff vacancies have both been filled. We congratulate Zena Gordon on her appointment as principal and Lynn Magee as the second teacher in the school.
We would pray that both staff settle quickly into their new surroundings and pray that the new season in the life of the school would know God's blessing.
We also give thanks for the contributions Sabrina, Pamela Whitford and Laura Creamer who very capably filled in this last year.
