Recently children from the Sunday school have been sending Christmas cards to Ayele. Ayele lives in Togo in Africa.
Many thanks to everyone who helped with our recent Sunday school outing. It was great to so and the children seemed to really appreciate the day.
Sunday School Leaders
Revd John and I are also keen to meet more regularly with Sunday school leaders through the coming year. We will probably have a meeting most months to enable us to prioritise the place of children in the life of the church. As we talk through resources, including children in services, our mission link and special events we hope these meetings would be of real value.
Please put the following dates in your diaries.
Tuesday 30th September 8pm in Swanlinbar Rectory.
Tuesday 21st October, Tuesday 18th November, venues and times to be confirmed.
The diocese also have a special resources day. This takes place on Saturday 27th September at the Bush hotel in Carrick on Shannon from 10am -4pm Those attending will be asked to attend 3 workshops each around 90 minutes. Lunch is included and the day will be free of charge.
Workshops offered will include:
· Parish Development – growing a parish
· Community Outreach – reaching out into the community
· Children’s Ministry
· Youth Ministry
· Music – developing music in the life of the church
· Making the best of Financial Opportunities – help making funding applications
· Use of Information Technology – things like powerpoint.

Sunday School leaders training opportunity
We always encourage Sunday school leaders to training events that are there to provide ideas, to inspire and encourage.
Reallife presents ‘Facilitate’ with Angee McKee Education department CEF
A morning of encouragement and help for Sunday school leaders and those in children’s ministry. Topics include the ‘talk’, memory verses and discipline Saturday 13th September 9.15 for 9.30am -12noon. The bridge Centre, Enniskillen Presbyterian Church.
The annual Building Blocks conference is on Saturday November 15th in Belfast and the Republic of Ireland conference will take place in All Hallows, Dublin on Saturday November 22nd.
The Key Note Speaker will be Lucy Moore from Messy Church and there will be several workshops on such topics as Creative Prayer, Games for Small Spaces, New Leaders, Crafts and much more. The cost of the conference is paid for by the parishes.
Safeguarding Trust Update Evening
All those who work with children and young people in the parish are asked to attend an evening in Bredagh old School next to Carrigallan church on Monday 8th September at 8pm. This would include all who help with holiday clubs, help with Sunday school , GFS and Badminton.
We would ask that all those in the parishes who are involved in work with children and young people make it a priority to attend.
