It was brilliant to welcome Joseph Wilson in Swanlinbar the other Sunday. Joseph had just been taking part in the Special Olympics Ireland held in Limerick and we were thrilled that he was a medal winner. Joseph won a place on the podium with two bronze medals in the 25m race and the softball throw. Well done Joseph with a brilliant effort.
Border Roads to Memories & Reconciliation is a Peace III funded Project. This project is mapping all the roads that were closed throughout the troubles from Donegal / Derry right along the Border to Louth and Down. We are gathering 180 stories / memories from Border residents and those affected by the Road Closures, whether you had a farm that straddled the border or you had to cross the border to work, or to your place of worship, did the road closures impact your day to day life? We would love to hear from the people of Swanlinbar, Kinawley, Kilmore and surrounding areas about what life was like during those times. We will be in St Marys Community Hall on Monday 30th June from 1pm –3pm Please call in and share your memories with us. We are also very keen to gather any Photographs or memorabilia of the road closures. Bring your pictures along and we will scan them and hand them directly back to you. For any further info please call 00353 4297 42003 or firstname.lastname@example.org
