Witness to the ends of the earth ... Introducing our overseas connections.
Beryl Baker...Paraguay
Since 2009 our Parish group have sought to support the work of nurse Beryl Baker in the Chaco in Paraguay.
In 2011 Richard Beadle joined a team led by SAMS worker Claire Holmes that visited Beryl. It was a real inspiration to see Beryl in her own setting. Her love of God, people and animals was abundantly clear.
In 2012 we were thrilled that Beryl came for to Ireland for a weekend to visit us and share about her work. Each Lent season we seek to give money to help Beryl with medical supplies for her work.
To find out more about the work that Beryl does working with the South American Missionary Society (SAMS) and our latest news follow the link below.
In 2011 a team largely made up of members of our parishes visited India led by Rev Brendan McCarthy. They stayed at the House of Peace Orphanage in Salem. These are home to some 1200 children. In addition, a further 800 children are provided with day-care. The work is the vision of Pastor Jay. Raised as an orphan himself, Jay has devoted his life to the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of orphans in southern India.
A number of people from across the diocese now sponsor children at the centre.
In the autumn of 2013 Rev Bright and Doctor Neva, so and daughter of Pastor Jay visited us and shared recent events, vision going forward and persecution. To find out more follow the ink below.
